Steve Osburn

By Priscilla Fagan

Steve grew up in California during the 50s and 60s, in the San Francisco Bay Area. Over the years he has also lived in southern California, Idaho, Oregon and Washington State. After spending a summer in Alaska, where he hopes to return one day, he is now working in Las Vegas at Wolfgang Puck's restaurant, Spago.

Steve's life experience has included a stint in the Army during Viet Nam when he changed his mind and went AWOL, like many at the time. But his life as a hippie also led him to jobs as a bartender, cook, painter, handy man, circus animal trainer, and the list goes on.

His creative side started with painting and turned to music and guitar, which led him to college at the ripe age of thirty-seven. Here he found himself cast in the lead role of a college production where he discovered his love for acting.

Now, with his discovery of WVU and his first story, "I Once Knew a Girl", he is taking a stab at writing, having been an voracious reader all his life. About to turn fifty, he is happy to have survived his youth and the excesses and experiences which went with it.

Admittedly he spends too much time on the computer, but it's still the coolest toy he's ever had. Now he feels it's turning into a tool, for homework and his writing. He loves the fact that he's in touch with people around the world with a click of his mouse.
